چکیده
Abstract Background Measurement of multiple steroids, 17 hydroxyprogesterone, 11 deoxycortisol, and 21 is required to discriminate between congenital adrenal hyperplasia due hydroxylase deficiency that beta deficiency. This work aims at the selection more appropriate, cost-effective method among either mass spectrometry or radioimmunoassay for quantitation previous steroids. In this study, blood samples were collected from 31 patients newly diagnosed with hyperplasia; hydroxyprogesterone deoxycortisol assayed using tandem spectrometry. Eleven was 2 methods: Results Measuring could significantly those ( p = 0.002), whereas failed 0.095). Moreover, former highly predictive a cutoff ≥ ng/ml 100% sensitivity 92.3% specificity. Simultaneous measurement their enrollment in an equation yielded overall accuracy 96.8% diagnosis CAH both enzymatic deficiencies. Conclusions spectrometric approach mandated as part up differentiate types hyperplasia.

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and Schmid Metaphyseal Chondrodysplasia in a Child
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of hereditary diseases, which are autosomal recessive. CAH occurs due to defect in one of the cortisol coding genes and often clinically presents itself with signs of androgen overproduction. In this article, we report a case of CAH and Schmid metaphyseal dysplasia. Our literature review indicated that this report is the first attempt on CYP11B1 a...
متن کاملEmerging role for tandem mass spectrometry in detecting congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive disorders caused by a deficiency of one of five enzymes required for the synthesis of cortisol and aldosterone. The most common type of CAH is 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21OHD), which is attributable to mutations in the gene CYP21 and a pseudogene, CYP21P, located on the short arm of chromosome 6. As with other genetic disor...
متن کاملCongenital adrenal hyperplasia: should nationwide screening be implemented in Thailand?
A project to establish the Thailand National Neonatal Screening Program was started in 1996 with the objective of screening every newborn for congenital hypothyroidism and phenylketonuria. Over a million newborns were screened and over 430 abnormal cases were detected. A study was also conducted to determine the feasibility of including CAH screening in the program. The incidence of this diseas...

The entire genomic DNA sequence of Arabidopsis will be available by the end of this year. As has been the case for a number of prokaryotic and eukaryotic species whose genomic DNA sequences have been completed, many open reading frames in the Arabidopsis genome will encode proteins of unknown functions. Genome-wide analysis of mRNA expression by microarray approaches can provide important clues...
متن کاملClassic congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is attributed to inherited enzyme defects in the adrenal cortex. The classical form results in reduced production of cortisol and aldosterone, accompanied by an increase in production of adrenal cortical androgens. This causes virilisation in girls, adrenocortical failure and early puberty in both sexes. This article describes the genetics, clinical picture, diagn...
